Terms of Use

Manifesto is an iOS app published by Growth Essentials, LLC (“Growth Essentials,” “we,” “us”), a Delaware limited liability company. On the App Store it is listed as Manifesto - Discover Self. These terms are the agreement between you and us. By downloading the app or using it, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

1. What Manifesto is

Manifesto is a mirror made of myth. A Hall holds eighty illustrated cards drawn from five mythologies. You choose the ones that hold your attention, you say or type what you see in the picture, and an engine writes you a story out of your own words. A narrator reads it aloud.

That is the whole of it. There is no test to pass and no score at the end.

2. What it is not

It is not therapy, not counselling, not a diagnosis, not a personality test, and not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice. Nothing the app writes about you is a clinical finding, and none of it has been validated as an assessment of anything.

3. If something heavy comes up

Manifesto is not a medical service and it cannot help in an emergency. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number now. If you need to talk to someone, findahelpline.com lists a helpline in almost every country. In the United States you can call or text 988. In the United Kingdom and Ireland you can call Samaritans on 116 123.

4. Who may use it

You must be 18 or older to use Manifesto. If you are under 18, this is not for you.

5. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Manifesto on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. The app is licensed to you, not sold. Anything this licence does not give you, we keep.

You may not copy the app, rent or lend it, sell access to it, take it apart to see how it works, or work around the checks that decide what you have paid for.

6. The first story is free

The first story Manifesto writes for you costs nothing, and you do not have to buy anything to read it. After that, each story needs a story credit. You can buy credits one purchase at a time, or receive them through a subscription.

7. What you can buy

Manifesto sells two kinds of thing: credits that you buy once and keep until you use them, and subscriptions that renew until you stop them.

One story, $4.99

A single credit, spent when a story is written for you. A one-off purchase, not a subscription.

Three stories, $12.99

Three credits, spent one at a time. A one-off purchase, not a subscription.

Four stories each month, $12.99 per month

A subscription. Four credits for each monthly period, for as long as the subscription runs. Renews automatically.

Unlimited stories, weekly, $12.99 per week

A subscription. As many stories as you ask for while the week runs, subject to the fair-use line below. Renews automatically.

Unlimited stories, monthly, $49.99 per month

The same, by the month, subject to the fair-use line below. Renews automatically.

The prices above are the United States prices. The App Store shows the price in your own currency, prices differ by territory, and the price the App Store shows you at the moment you buy is the one that applies. We can change prices, and a change never reaches a purchase you have already made.

8. What unlimited means

Unlimited means unlimited for one person reflecting at a human pace, and we put no counter in front of you. The fair-use line exists for the cases that are not that: one subscription shared between several people, or driven by a script, or used at a volume no person could produce. If that happens we may limit the account, ask you to stop, or end the subscription.

9. Buying goes through Apple

Every purchase in Manifesto is an Apple in-app purchase. Apple takes the payment from the App Store account you are signed in to, and Apple’s own terms cover that transaction alongside these. We never see and never hold your card details.

10. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them

A subscription renews by itself at the end of every period, at the price in force at that moment, and the charge falls on the same App Store account. To stop it, open Settings on your device, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. If you leave it later than that, Apple charges you for the next period.

Cancelling ends the renewal, not the period you have already paid for: what you bought stays yours until it runs out. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

11. Refunds

Purchases are made through the App Store, so refunds are asked of Apple rather than of us, and Apple decides them. We cannot issue an App Store refund and we cannot overturn one.

We would rather be plain about our own position than sound generous. A story that has been written and delivered to you is a digital good you have already consumed, and we do not refund it except where the law where you live requires it. Where consumer law gives you a right to withdraw from a digital purchase, that right stands, and asking for a story to be written straight away is what ends it for that story.

None of that applies when the fault is ours. If a purchase failed, if a credit was taken and no story arrived, or if something broke on our side, write to us. That is a repair rather than a refund, and we will fix it.

12. Story credits

A credit is permission to have one story written for you, and nothing more. Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, cannot be sold, and cannot be given or moved to another person. They are held against the purchase identity described in the Privacy Policy, which is why erasing what you wrote inside the app does not take your paid credits with it.

13. Your words and your stories

What you say and type stays yours. You give us only the permission we need in order to run the app: to store your reflections and process them on hardware we operate to write your story, transcribe voice input and provide spoken narration. We do not send this content to third-party AI services or external inference APIs. The Privacy Policy describes this processing and the separate data handled by outside services for purposes such as purchases, hosting and analytics.

The story written for you is licensed to you personally and free of charge, to keep, to re-read, and to share as it stands.

You are responsible for what you put into a reflection. Do not put another person’s private information into one.

14. What belongs to us

The card art, the retold myths, the questions, the narration, the software, the design and the name Manifesto belong to Growth Essentials, LLC or to those who licensed them to us, and they are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Nothing here transfers any of it to you. You may not copy, redistribute, sell or adapt it, and you may not use it, or the stories written for you, to train a model.

15. How to use it

Use it as a person, for yourself. Specifically, do not:

• use it to make a decision about somebody else, such as hiring, admitting, treating or assessing them;
• put another person’s personal information into a reflection;
• script it, scrape it or automate it, or try to extract how it works;
• attack it, overload it, or get around the limits, purchase checks or paywalls that keep it running for everybody;
• republish the card art or the stories as your own, or use either to train anything;
• break the law with it.

We can stop serving somebody who does any of this, and we do not owe an explanation first.

16. Apple’s part in this

You get Manifesto from the App Store, but the app is ours and this agreement is between you and Growth Essentials, LLC alone. Apple is not a party to it, Apple is not responsible for the app or for anything in it, and Apple has no obligation to support it. If the app fails to conform to a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple may refund what you paid for the app; beyond that refund, and to the extent the law allows, Apple has no further warranty obligation to you. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms against you as third party beneficiaries of them.

By using the app you confirm that you are not in a country subject to a United States embargo, and that you are not on a United States list of prohibited or restricted parties.

17. Availability, and no warranty

The app is provided as it is and as it is available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We do not promise that Manifesto will always be available, that it will keep working the way it does today, that a story will be written every time you ask for one, or that anything written will be accurate, useful or right about you. Features can change or go away. Where the law where you live gives you a warranty that cannot be excluded, this section does not take it away.

18. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Growth Essentials, LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of Manifesto or your inability to use it, for a decision you took because of something a story said, or for the loss of a story or of anything you wrote here. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed what you paid for Manifesto in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and nothing here takes away the consumer rights you have where you live.

19. Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting the app. Cancel any subscription in the App Store first, because deleting the app does not cancel it.

We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, and we may discontinue Manifesto. If we discontinue it, we will say so in the app or on this page beforehand where we are able to.

20. Changes to these terms

We can change these terms. When we do, the date under the title changes with them, and using the app afterwards is how the new version is accepted. If you do not accept it, stop using the app and cancel any subscription in the App Store.

21. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Delaware. None of that takes away the mandatory protection the law of your own country of residence gives you.
